This thesis is the result of extensive research conducted in the archives and libraries of Belgium, Germany, and Italy, utilizing firsthand documents. It is developed around three key areas: historical-artistic, socio-anthropological, and technological, providing a comprehensive analysis of the methodologies and technologies employed during World War I and the Battle of Aleppo. The primary aim of the thesis is to raise awareness about the preservation techniques that can be applied in future conflicts to ensure the digital preservation of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Titled "Technological Methodologies of Preservation of Cultural Heritage during Warfare: From Kunstschutz in Belgium during WWI to AI and Virtual Reality Reconstruction of Aleppo," the thesis offers a complex overview of how technology can safeguard heritage in times of war.
